Jiminy evolved today! I was honestly getting a little worried, he's been gaining levels so slowly, between the weather making it hard to train and just not having many effective attacks, I don't think there's much around here that's weak to Bug types. Not much that offers a good challenge, anyway!

[If the Kricketune in question is offended by any of that, it's not showing it. Since the video began, it's been happily chirping away away in a weirdly rhythmic tune. The overall effect is probably best described as 'hip-hop violin', accented by the Chatot hopping around excitedly and adding her own chitters and vocal contributions. Whatever your opinion, at least it's covering the usual background music?]

He's having fun with Reina, at least! I wasn't sure having them out together at the same time was a good idea since he's a bug and she's a bird, and Jiminy's level is so much lower than hers, but it looks like they've found some kind of common ground! It's sort of strange that Pokémon that would be natural enemies in the wild can get along so well once they've been captured. Do you think that's a side-effect of the Pokéballs somehow, or just comes from even really basic training? Most of my other Pokémon aren't the kind who'd seem like they'd be more inclined to fight than usual in the wild, so this is the first chance I've gotten to see something like this. I mean, Amber's a spider too, but she's also electric-type and much stronger than Reina so that's not really a fair comparison?

Whatever causes it, I just think it's great that Pokémon and trainers have such a chance to make friends in so many unlikely places. I have more friends here than I ever had back home, and I'd hate to think of my Pokémon missing out on the same chance.

In my experience, Pokemon are as much of individuals with their own personalities as their human counterparts are. Types and movesets aren't always an indication of their temperament.

I have a Charmeleon, as a matter of fact, who's a perfect case study of that precise phenomenon. By moveset alone, his destructive power is fairly unparalleled — but he has absolutely no interest in battling, and I've never seen any reason to force him to.

Hatched with a few VERY powerful attacks, but he's so shy about battling! I try to keep his training up so he can defend himself in an emergency and he doesn't seem to MIND exactly but it seems like he doesn't enjoy it as much as some of my other Pokémon? I've tried talking to him about it and making sure to give him plenty of attention outside of battle but I don't know how much he really understands?

"Hatched" is the standard term, I think, but I don't think anyone is really that particular about it, either.

Do you happen to have a Psychic-type on your roster?

That's one of the strangest things about this place, that everything comes out of eggs. Even some of the other eggs! That and the music. And the way everyone becomes human.

And yes! I have Iris, they're a Metang. They're very strong, even though I only captured them fairly recently.

I'm assuming that means you're staying close to the Ruins of Alph at the moment, near Violet City. Hm?

In any case, your Iris might be able to give you some insight into the thoughts of the rest of your roster. Psychic-types tend to make good mediums, when it comes to helping you and your Pokemon understand each other.

That's a sensational idea, thank you! Iris doesn't talk much, but they're VERY diligent and hardworking, I'm sure they won't mind acting as a translator!

You think so? I hope that's the case, that would be SENSATIONAL! I didn't really have much family at home either, just my father. I miss him a lot, but sometimes I still wish I could stay here forever even though it would probably mean never seeing him again.

[A second's pause because wait, what?]

Not that I don't want to see him again, it's just that everyone here has been so nice and everything's new and interesting!

[Elsa laughs.]

Don't worry, I don't think anyone would think badly of you if you wanted to stay here. This place... it helps people. A lot.

Mister Ironwood was there too, and he was VERY nice, but he was more like my father's boss than anything? There was my friend Ruby too, but I couldn't see her very often and we went to different schools anyway.

Oh, I can see how that would be confusing. My family has many servants, and I was always unsure of how I should address them as a child.

[Well, things changed since then. Kai and Gerda might as well be her aunt and uncle at this point, with how much they've dedicated to helping Elsa and Anna on a personal level.]

I think it's the bond between you and your partners that can cause that. If I remember right, it's said that trainers bring out the best in their teammates.

You really think so? I'd LOVE to think that, but I don't know if I'm really capable of all that. It would be absolutely SENSATIONAL if that were the case though.

I guess it just doesn't necessarily feel like something I've been trying to do? I mean of course I try to encourage them to get along and ABSOLUTELY make sure they know I care about them, but it's mostly training and battling.

Maybe that's all that there is to it?
