[Oh come on Ruby, she made popcorn and everything for this.]

[-which Penny carefully sets down, looking over at Ruby as the movie menu plays on repeat in front of them. This is a disappointing turn of events, but Ruby's been working hard and Penny knows sleep is important for humans. And this is still technically spending time together? Or close enough. So she sits perfectly still, not wanting to disturb Ruby.]

[...her neck looks very uncomfortable in this position. That could be very sore when she wakes up.]

[Slowly, gently, Penny reaches over and adjusts Ruby's position as lightly as possible, putting an arm behind her for support so she's not sleeping at such an awkward angle.]

[Perfect.]

[Ruby would feel just awful about ruining their hang out or date night if she wasn't completely passed out. As it stands she just looks super peaceful as she slumps against her friends arm.

She hardly seems disturbed when Penny adjusts their position. Once Penny's arm is around her she doesn't seem to waste any time cuddling into the crook of her arm.]

Mmmmnn....

[Being this close Ruby can hear the light whiring and hum of the mechanical bits that make Penny work and it's awfully soothing. An arm lazily wraps around Penny as she looks to keep that gentle white noise close.]

[This is not ruining, it's just a sudden shift in plans.]

[There's no actual ticking, but there is just a faint spirit of clockwork to the sounds of the cooling systems and processors keeping her running, even as she stays as still as possible.]

[She shifts a little, adjusting to Ruby's position, the arm supporting her wrapping around to rest on Ruby's arm.]

[Ruby makes a pleased little mumble when Penny's arm wraps around her. Her cheek presses a little further into Penny's side. Her hair flops over to cover her eyes from the angle she's leaning at.

Then there's silence save for her own light breathing and a quiet mumble.] </I. This is... nice... mmmmm....

[Penny freezes as Ruby mumbles in her sleep, worried she's disturbed her- slowly relaxing as Ruby continues to snuggle in and breath deeply.]

[This really is nice.]

[She absentmindedly brushes Ruby's hair from her eyes, hesitating for just a second afterward, realizing that might be another disturbance.]

[Ruby scrunches her nose briefly as her hair is moved, but it quickly devolves into a snort mixed in with a few giggles.

She shifts slightly her legs lightly lifting up onto the couch as she shifts and tries to lay down on the couch.

And on top of Penny.]

[Ah. Hm. Well.]

[That's a thing.]

[...yeah she's just gonna hold as still as possible. Cannot disturb sleeping bestie. Who is currently using her lap as a pillow. This is fine.]

[Also gonna rest a hand gently on Ruby's head. She seemed to like the contact before?]

[Ruby's legs gently slide up over the edge of the couch and dangle off the side as she works to get herself a bit more comfortable in her new position. She definitely seems to enjoy the touch on her head but it's not long before her hand lazily reaches up to take a hold of Penny's and drag it off to dangle absently in front of the both of them.]

[Yeah, okay, Penny's gonna let Ruby sleepily take her hand. She twines their fingers together and lets them hang gently, watching Ruby breath slowly.]

[For all the moving and fidgeting around that she had been doing it looks like she's finally got comfortable and settles in for the long haul.

She let's out a pleased little murmur when Penny's fingers slide between hers but other then that she's sleeping pretty soundly now.]

[Okay then. Ruby is comfortable, and sound asleep.]

[Time to settle in and not move at all for about six or eight hours.]

[Six point five hours later with minimal movement aside from some drooling at a cookie related dream and Ruby starts to stir.]

mmmmmrgarahrgah....

I dun wanna get up today...

[Penny blinks, refocusing from the mental exercises she runs through each night instead of actually sleeping and looking down at Ruby.]

You can sleep longer if you're still tired, I don't mind.

Unnnnnnghrrhah I could...

[She just rolls over a little burying her face into Penny's stomach. She hasn't comprehended she's not in a bed or anything.]

-It's comfy.

Aw, thank you.

[That's a normal compliment from a friend right.]

Take all the time you need.

[Definitely 100% normal.

She just curls up into a ball and gives a little grunt.]

What time is it?

Is it breakfast time yet?

Mm. I don't think so? It's about one-thirty in the morning, I guess we could have an early breakfast if you want?

[Oh no. Actually hearing the time gets a disgruntled groan out of her.]

mmmmmrgh-it's still sleep time...

[Look she's inching up further along to lay across the whole couch and she's pulling Penny over like she's body pillow.]

sleep time...

[That's a really solid body pillow, Ruby.]

[But Penny's gonna scootch over in response to Ruby's tugging as best she can. It's pretty awkward and almost certainly involves some jostling of both Ruby and the entire couch.]

It can be! I know sleep is important for humans, get as much rest as you need.

[It's a bit more stiff then what she'd normally go with. But it's still very cuddleable.

Penny's probably doing most of the work in actually making this set up work. Half asleep Ruby isn't really doing much more than pulling and hoping for the best. She takes the jostling like a champ and just wraps her arms around Penny once everything settles down.]

Yeah... that's what I'm gonna do...

[Yay, moderately awkward hugs! Penny's gonna wrap an arm around Ruby in return as much as possible.]

Don't worry. I'll make sure no one disturbs you.

Unless it's actually a real emergency, but then the alarms would probably wake you up anyway.
